We have some very special visitors joining us on Fri 18th August!
The Katharine Robinson School of Highland Dancing are coming all the way from Ottawa in Canada, to Scotland for the Edinburgh Fringe, and events at Holyrood Castle, and Balmoral. They are visiting Loch Lomond and have offered to come along and perform for us!
The Katharine Robinson School of Highland Dancing (KRSHD) is committed to providing exceptional dance instruction that leads students to achieve their fullest potential and to experience the joy of dancing from the heart. With a focus on building confidence, pride and team spirit, the school offers an inclusive and nurturing environment for recreational and competitive students of all ages and levels. KRSHD also promotes Scottish culture in the nation’s capital through regular community performances.
They have dancers of all ages, from small kids to teens and adults, and perform traditional numbers such as the sword dance, the highland fling, and the lilt, as well as choreographed pieces for multiple dancers.
They also enjoy teaching their audience! In the past, they have taught introductory steps of the highland fling, and have involved audiences in strathspeys and reels as group dances, creating a mini-ceilidh on the spot. They can also provide an introduction to the history of dances we do, which are all linked to Scottish history.
Some come along on Fri 18th of August, from around lunchtime onwards – and give the Katharine Robinson School of Highland Dancing a warm Sottish welcome, and maybe learn a few highland dance steps while you’re here!
