On Saturday 6th, Loch Lomond will be visited by Vikings in the form of The Viking Heritage Kitchen. Festival goers will be transported back in time and get the chance to witness a sensory, outdoor demonstration of authentic Viking cooking over open fires. This fantastic FREE experience isn’t just fun for the whole family, it’s also incredibly educational and a unique chance to witness what it was like to be a Viking! Head to the meadow on the promontory to witness a living, breathing history lesson.

On Sunday 7th the meadow will be in full use again with the arrival of the ever popular The Drakes of Hazard. Mark and his sheepdogs and ducks will be performing their hilarious shows at 11.30am, 1.30pm and 3pm offering brilliant FREE family entertainment.

Saturday 6th Chef Demonstrations will be hosted by festival favourite and local Chef Rohan Wadke at 12pm. 1.15pm and 2.30pm, where he’ll be focusing on vegetarian seasonal produce.
Sunday 7th Chef Demonstrations will be hosted by a Kyle Hassall, a first-time visitor to the festival and the culinary talent behind Catering Thyme, The Boathouse, and Mojitos in Upton in Worcestershire. Kyle will be bringing delicious Mediterranean flavours to his demonstrations at 12pm, 1.15pm and 2.30pm.

Paisley Pie Co will be with us throughout the weekend with their award-winning pies and, on Sunday, between 10am and 3pm with an amazing pie-eating competition, which is perfect for pie lovers – and frankly, can you even call yourself Scottish if you don’t love a good pie?! They will be producing a special spicy pie, with Scotch Bonnet, for the competition and anyone who’s up for the challenge can take part between 10am and 2pm, and those who manage to eat a whole one will be entered into the Final at 3pm! The winner will receive a £100 voucher for the Paisley Pie Co as well as merch and a winner’s medal! And with all proceeds of a £5 entry going to Cash for Kids, and Clyde 1’s very own Cassi hosting the final, you’re doing an amazing thing for disadvantaged kids throughout Scotland!

And if you think all of this is enough foodie fun, think again. We’ll have over 70 vendors filled with fresh produce, baked goods, gifts and much, much more as well as street food from across the world all weekend for you to enjoy. Tuck into everything from haggis to hog roast or, if you’re feeling adventurous, anything from Hawaiian to Mexican, while picking up some gourmet food from a mix of local producers and across the UK.

Audrey Calder from Loch Lomond Shores commented:

“It’s going to be an amazing festival, and we can’t wait to welcome visitors and enjoy all the amazing food on offer, entertainment and atmosphere! We’re all particularly excited this year to welcome new talent and experiences that will wow visitors and strengthen an already brilliant FREE festival!”

Loch Lomond Unplugged is this weekend!

Loch Lomond Unplugged, our FREE showcase of talented buskers and singer/songwriters, is this weekend and we’re super excited to welcome great acts from across Scotland and beyond!

We’re also looking forward to welcoming a wide range of visitors coming to support these talented musicians, who can also come and enjoy a great day out with market stalls, kid’s entertainment & rides and much more, all set on the banks of Loch Lomond.
As a visitor attraction that welcomes all, this event is a family festival, and while we expect young people to come along and have fun listening to the music, we ask all festival goers to be well-behaved and respectful of their fellow festival goers throughout.

A spokesperson for Loch Lomond Shores explains:
“This is a new festival for us and we’re excited to host it but while the musical aspect makes this festival different, it is still very much based around the formula we use for our other festivals, and that is making it inclusive for all – including families.”

Those coming along at the weekend can also preview the acts and vote for their favourite to help our judges narrow the 16 performing on Saturday down to 8 finalists performing on Sunday.

HOW TO VOTE:

Visit our Festivals website and click on the videos to open them on YouTube and hit the ‘LIKE’ button below the video to register your vote for the performers you want to get through to our FINAL on Sunday, 25th May!

Voting will stay open until 5pm on Saturday 24th, so you have plenty of time decide!

The TOP 8 acts to perform again on Sunday will be decided at close of play on Saturday, with votes tallied up and added to our judge’s votes.

The overall WINNER of the £1,000 prize money will be decided by our judges, Kyle Falconer, Jim Gellatly and Mike Ward, on Sunday, and announced before 5pm.

As well as cracking performances by our hopefuls throughout, Lomond Unplugged will also have lots of things to see and do for all the family, including stalls to browse filled with fresh produce, gifts and more, as well as delicious street food to enjoy and children’s rides. There will also be all the great things Loch Lomond Shores has to offer, including boat tours, adventure golf, Loch Lomond SEA LIFE Aquarium, water sports & bike hire, as well as our stores, restaurants and cafes, all set against the backdrop of Loch Lomond and Ben Lomond in the distance.
